Synopsis: In the near future, the appearance of insectoid creatures called "Mushi" alters the dynamics of society, as these beings feed on human dreams and thoughts, granting supernatural abilities in exchange. The protagonist, Daisuke "Kakkou" Kusuriya, crosses paths with Shiika Anmoto, a young enigmatic woman with a dark past: she is a fugitive from a secret prison known as GARDEN, where those possessed by the Mushi, the Mushitsuki, are kept in drastic conditions. As Kakkou and Shiika develop a friendship, opposing forces begin to move, with GARDEN sending an unrelenting assassin to capture her, while the resistance of Mushibane, led by the mysterious "Ladybird," rises to confront this oppression.
